The skyscraper at Rockefeller center (aka GE building) matches the coordinates 40.758 N and 73.979 W. Up and left may be probably a reference to N W coodinates (UP = 'N'orth, Left = 'W'est)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GE_Building One possible interpretation is that 'GE' and 'in verb' can be an anagram for 'ever Bing' implying that 'Bing' as essential search engine for the clues (Thanks, smoothblog.co.uk). Another has pointed out that that 'in verb' could be 'in ver B' (in version B) and may relate to an earlier clue on map. (Thanks Whirlpool) A Better explanation of this came later.(Thanks ThomasR - Whirlpool) In verb, know anagrams to Kevin Brown who played the role of "Dot com" in 30 Rock which is set at Rockefeller Plaza... Also Granett - Whirlpool, pointed out that the fictional Headquarters of Fantastic Four is located somewhere in the location pointed by the above coordinates. The location specified is not the Rockefeller Center tower. That location is the street between the two Rockefeller Plaza buildings, which just happens to be the street that they block off to shoot the outside portions of NBC's "Today Show". I was just there on vacation last week.
Link : http://today.msnbc.msn.com/ NBC is partnered with Microsoft for the MSNBC news channel. Do Australians get NBC/MSNBC? If not, it might not have been obvious. I hope this helps. Last edited by avidday : July 20th, 2009 at 09:08 AM. Reason: Adding link. |

Some clarification of my above post since Whirlpool is still stick on Rockefeller Center:
The map below is laid out in 0.001 degree squares, with the points shown being the center of the degree box and were used for construction of the grid: ![]() You can see that the Rockefeller Center Tower is outside the box for 40.758 N, 73.979 W, and thus cannot be the intended location. |

I think you have done a good job. The correct coordinates for the Rockefeller Center/GE center is 40.759 N although the clue says 4.758 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GE_Building (top right hand gives correct coordinates). So why is the variance of 0.001? Probably what you said earlier could be right. But there is also a possibility that by 'Up' and 'Left' they meant for us to see what is up and left from the given oordinates, and what we see if we move up and left is Rockefeller center!. Anyway I won't rule out your NBC at all as your map argument is technically sound.

I also notice that New York Postcodes change between 40-758 - 40.759
40-758 is NY 10154 whereas 40-759 is 10111 Could be significant? Whats left of - could it be some subtraction and cryptic clue? http://www.geonames.org/postal-codes.../new-york.html |

The variance is 0.001 because that is the difference between 40.758 and 40.759.They could have gone to more decimal places, but didn't for some reason, so the best we can guess is anywhere in the square shown. Otherwise, the location would round up or down to the next 0.001 degree, if we are limited by the decimal places they gave us.
For reference, adding one more decimal place would have given us a box 1/100th the size. ![]() Edit: More things in that area: Nintendo World Store, Dean & Deluca (my wife knows what it is, I don't), and a Duane Reade Pharmacy. Do those help any? Last edited by avidday : July 28th, 2009 at 03:24 PM. |
