MPORTANT I think I stumbled to what appears to be the elusive domain that could win us 10 grand. I don't mind disclosing it here because I do not mind someone hee winning it. However the site appears to ask for a code to further proceed, which I am not able to succeed.
It could be that the domain is fake, but I have reasons to believe that it is real. The reason is that the keywords fit in well, and its registered in Australia. I think I will disclose the domain after a shortwhile, so that all attention is received I don't think I will get any cash benefit here, but at least can I get the acknowledgement of being the first to hit at this, and if not, at least the first to reveal.By the way, the only dilemma I face is that if anyone here has already found this the hard way and working on his/her own, I am not sure whether i am doing the right thing. Comments and advice welcome before I make another post. Especially any objections? Hold your breath.... |

I decided not publich the domain name in public. However go through Whirlpool discussions and you will find the method to find the domain is hinted and already others have figured out easily subsequent to that. The domain contains three of the words in the right order like we initially figuredout. The fourth too had been mentioned in some clues, although not extensively as they did for the third first three words, especially third word. If you have been following the competition, by now you should easily figure the entire domain. Even knowing first three words are sufficient as there are tools that help figure the whole using them.
Having said that, it is debatable whether the domain is authentic. The whois contact info looks legitimate, so do the Ip where it is hosted. However the fact this domain was registered early August, casts a doubt. Anyway if this turns about to be the right domain, I hope you can thank me for alerting about that ![]() The following is an extract of my post, which helped those who seriously participated in the competition to figure this out -- I think I will go as much as I could without hurting those who may think this is too valuable to given public.. The three words we always thought are there in it XXXX XXXX XXXXXXX If you know the right tools to use, using the above words you will find the full domain name.. |

Following is the post I made at Whirlpool
--- IMPORTANT UPDATE – To My Earlier Announcement I deem the domain is authentic and valid in my personal opinion. So I would not go into further discussion ablout its legitimacy. If any of you still believe its fake its upto you. The reasons I came to the conclusion are a) The whois contact's company also makes blog entries relating to competition (Thanks Johny Bravo – via Bothered) b) The company whois contact works for is a reputed large company which has Microsoft as a client c) The site asks for a code to get to the hidden web page, and this seems to be what the later clues are telling us d) The site has /robots.txt file that disallows indexing of the site by search engines an indication that the site doesn't exist for any ad sales, and has been carefully setup e) The keywords fit in nicely, although we know the three are obvious, the fourth also has been indicated in the clues, although not emphasized many times like other keywords f) The server that hosts the site also hosts some of the reputed brand names, one being a cheesy one ![]() I have done all kinds of analysis I could, and I have no way to prove that it is NOT legitimate. But I can prove that it is (As from the above) Although when I initially broke the news about the domain here, I promised to disclose it and then decided against as it raised concern. however there were sufficient hints given for those who are in the game to find the domain, which they did easily. I also selectively answerd whims from those who contacted and gave to those whom I thought deserved. As people came to know of the domain many doubted the authenticity of the site. Even I was skeptical due to the late registering of the domain. I think we all agreed afterwards that we will keep it hidden from public, especially those who may never have contributed here. I trust that all those who have helped solve clues in the past are already aware of the domain by now. Now I guess we have come to the second stage of the competition, where we need to find the password to get into the hidden page. At this point you can proceed to be on your own and be the victor. However the password may not be so easy as it seems, and we have several clues, especially the map and tun, unsolved. This is still done by discussion, where we can continue to discuss past clues and possible ideas. I am sure something will click for the right person at the right time! Even if you don't believe the legitimacy of the site, it would be worth discussing here the past clues and help in the discussion. The Last (pass)word goes to the winner! And he/she can put a 'V' on the shoulder (Thanks, Quote from the blog of Wunderkids!) |
